Day Program
At Cadmus Lifesharing, work is more than a task; it's a path to personal growth. We collaborate with skilled crafters, wellness professionals, artists, musicians, gardeners, and many others, learning and developing our abilities in a supportive environment.
Work becomes a deeply social experience when we contribute to the lives of those around us. This sense of responsibility and shared purpose fills us with pride – knowing our efforts directly benefit and uplift our community.
Throughout the Cadmus extended community, we all reap the rewards of meaningful work. Whether sharing a meal at home or dining with friends, we gather around the table, grateful for the fresh, delicious food prepared with care – often featuring ingredients nurtured in our backyards.
Nestled in the heart of the Berkshires, Cadmus Lifesharing enjoys a setting where natural beauty and cultural richness intertwine. Great Barrington's charming Main Street bustles with independent shops and vibrant cafes, while the surrounding hills whisper of outdoor adventures.
The region, including the picturesque towns of Lee and Lenox, draws lovers of art, music, nature, and the simple pleasures of life. Each season brings a unique charm. Summer nights sparkle with the world-class performances at Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow.
The fall foliage paints the landscape in vibrant hues, inspiring hikes along Monument Mountain or bike rides on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. Cozy winter days invite browsing local galleries, followed by farm-to-table dinners. Spring blooms with festivals celebrating everything from maple syrup to tulips.
The Cadmus community is woven into the fabric of this dynamic region. Whether it's picking up fresh produce at the farmers' market, attending a community theater performance, or volunteering at a local festival, the Berkshires provide endless opportunities for connection, discovery, and a vibrant sense of belonging.
Cadmus is licensed through the Department of Developmental Services to provide community-based day services for people who have a developmental disability. Our day program is offered in one-to-one and small-group settings with activities centered on the interests of the individual we are supporting. A typical day might consist of spending time exercising at Berkshire South Community Center, completing a volunteer project, lunch with friends, participating in a social skills group, and taking a CATA class. Our focus is on helping people increase their independent living skills and community awareness in the natural, functional settings where they live.
